Join our free 4-week virtual psychotherapy group designed specifically for dating couples. Whether you’re newly dating or seriously considering a long-term future together, this closed group experience will help you explore emotional connection, communication, values, and conflict resolution in a safe, supportive environment.
Goal: To help couples explore and strengthen their relationship through guided exercises, open dialogue, and therapeutic insight.
Week 1: Foundations of a Healthy Relationship
Theme:
Building Awareness and Emotional Safety
Objectives:
- Establish group guidelines and rapport
- Identify characteristics of healthy vs. unhealthy relationships
- Explore emotional needs and love languages
Activities:
- Icebreaker: “Our Story in 3 Minutes”
- Psychoeducation: Signs of healthy/unhealthy dynamics
- Partner Discussion: “When I feel loved, it’s because…”
Homework:
- Journal: “What I value most in a partner”
- Couples Assignment: Express your appreciation for your partner during this week
Week 2: Communication means Connection
Theme:
Speaking and Listening with Intention
Objectives:
- Learn and practice active listening skills
- Address communication barriers and defensive responses
- Explore vulnerability and emotional intimacy
Activities:
- Skills Demo: Speaker-Listener Technique
- Guided Practice: Conflict Role-play
- Group Discussion: “What shuts me down in conversations?”
Homework:
- Practice “Reflective Listening” during a real conversation
- Journal: “What helps me feel emotionally safe?”
Week 3: Values, Boundaries, and Expectations
Theme:
Clarifying Long-Term Compatibility
Objectives:
- Identify and align core values and future goals
- Discuss personal and relational boundaries
- Explore expectations around marriage, children, finances, etc.
Activities:
- Values Card Sort Exercise (identify top 5 personal/relationship values)
- Partner Reflection: “What are deal-breakers or must-haves?”
- Group Debrief: Navigating differences with respect
Homework:
- Create a “Future Vision” worksheet together
- Journal: “Where do I need clearer boundaries?”
Week 4: Conflict, Repair, and Decision-Making
Theme:
Managing Disagreements & Evaluating Readiness
Objectives:
- Develop strategies for healthy conflict resolution
- Practice repair attempts and emotional regulation
- Reflect on relational readiness and next steps
Activities:
- Psychoeducation: The Gottman “Four Horsemen” & Antidotes
- Conflict Mapping: Identify a recurring challenge
- Couples Dialogue: “A challenge we face and how we’ll work through it”
Closure:
- Each couple shares a takeaway and commitment
- Group reflection: “What’s next for us?”
Homework:
- Write a letter to your partner summarizing growth and gratitude

About Your Facilitator
Dr. Sam Heastie is a seasoned psychologist specializing in relationships and personal growth. With decades of experience guiding individuals toward fulfilling love and meaningful connections, Dr. Heastie creates a compassionate and honest environment where singles can thrive.
Informed Consent Form:
Purpose:
This group is designed to support dating couples in exploring relationship dynamics, communication skills, shared values, and conflict resolution. It is not a substitute for individual or couple’s therapy.
Format:
- 4 weekly sessions (90 minutes each), closed group
- Conducted virtually via secure video conferencing
- Includes structured activities, open discussions, and homework assignments
Participation Requirements:
- Attend all 4 sessions unless excused in advance
- Participate respectfully and without judgment
- Maintain confidentiality as agreed
Risks & Benefits:
- Some topics may feel emotionally intense or sensitive
- Benefits may include better communication, deeper connection, and greater clarity about your relationship
Voluntary Participation:
Participation is completely voluntary. You may withdraw from the group at any time, though I encourage open communication about your decision.
Technology Use:
- A secure platform will be used for all sessions
- Ensure a stable internet connection and private environment

By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read and understood the nature of the group, the expectations for confidentiality, and our rights as participants.
Confidentiality Agreement:
To maintain a safe and supportive space for all participants, confidentiality is essential. By joining this group, you agree to the following:
- I will not share the names, identities, or personal stories of any group members outside the group.
- I understand that group sessions will not be recorded and that I am prohibited from recording or screen-capturing any portion of the session.
- I agree to participate in a private space during the sessions to preserve the confidentiality of other group members.
- I understand that if I breach confidentiality, I may be removed from the group.
Exceptions to Confidentiality:
As the facilitator, Dr. Sam Heastie is mandated to report:
- Intent to harm self or others
- Suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or vulnerable adult
- Court orders or subpoenas requiring disclosure
