Goal: To help couples explore and strengthen their relationship through guided exercises, open dialogue, and therapeutic insight.

Each week, you’ll explore key themes and practical tools designed to enhance your marriage in a safe, supportive, and professionally guided setting:
Week 1: Let’s Get Started
Discover group goals, establish trust, and identify your couple’s strengths and struggles.
Week 2: “I Second That Emotion”
Learn to recognize emotional triggers and use reflective listening to build emotional safety.
Week 3: May I Say Something?
Improve communication using “I” statements and learn how to resolve misunderstandings more effectively.
Week 4: Conflict Means Caring
Understand your conflict patterns and practice tools like time-out strategies and repair rituals.
Week 5: The Porcupine Puzzle
Deepen both emotional and physical intimacy with eye contact, gratitude, and intentional sharing.
Week 6: Where To From Here?
Create a shared vision for your future and celebrate your progress as a couple.

About Your Facilitator
Dr. Sam Heastie is a seasoned psychologist specializing in relationships and personal growth. With decades of experience guiding individuals toward fulfilling love and meaningful connections, Dr. Heastie creates a compassionate and honest environment where singles can thrive.
Informed Consent Form:
I/We understand that this is an 8-week virtual group therapy program for married or separated couples facilitated by Dr. Sam Heastie. Each session will be 90 minutes in length and conducted weekly on Sundays at 6:30 p.m.
I/We acknowledge the following:
- This group is process-oriented, focusing on shared exploration and discussion rather than structured lessons.
- The cost of the program is free
- This is a closed group, meaning no new participants will be added after the group begins.
- Participation in this group is voluntary, and we may withdraw at any time; however, no refunds will be issued after the group starts.
- We agree to arrive on time, attend regularly, and participate respectfully.
- We understand that while we are participating in group counseling, it is not a substitute for individual or crisis counseling.
Confidentiality Agreement:
Confidentiality is essential in group therapy. By signing below, we agree to:
- Respect the privacy and experiences of others in the group
- Not share any identifying or personal information discussed in the group with anyone outside the group
- Not recording or screen-capturing any portion of the session.
- Participate in a private, quiet space when attending virtually to protect others’ confidentiality
- Keep our own video and audio on during sessions unless otherwise instructed by Dr. Heastie
We acknowledge that confidentiality cannot be guaranteed in a group setting, and we accept this limitation.
Exceptions to Confidentiality:
As the facilitator, Dr. Sam Heastie is mandated to report:
- Intent to harm self or others
- Suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or vulnerable adult
- Court orders or subpoenas requiring disclosure
